Gopro Hero3 Silver Review | Best Underwater Camera for Snorkeling
I bought my GoPro Hero3 Silver when I was living in Panama. We were able to snorkel there quite a bit. I knew I wanted an underwater camcorder to save the memories of the incredible sites I was able to see underwater. It became a go to camcorder for any action shots. I have to tell you, I was blown away by this product. I am going to stop right now and show you my first videos I took when snorkeling in Panama. The way I took this video was with an extendable stick that was attached to the GoPro Camcorder. This is my GoPro Hero3 Silver Review | Best Underwater Camera For Snorkeling.
Snorkeling In San Blas, Panama
Four Wheeling in Bocas Del Toro, Panama
We made a quick trip to Bocas Del Toro while in Panama. I threw my GoPro in my bag and sure enough, the need came up. my wife held the same extendable stick as I drove the Four Wheeler as we took off through the jungle. A short but sweet little video
Driving the Almalfi Coast of Italy
While House Sitting in Italy, we had some free time and we headed to the southern part to drive the Amalfi Coast. I used a special mount and placed in on my dashboard and off we went. Not a great video as a lot of the dash is visible throughout the video.
AUDIENCE/WHO IS IT FOR?
This product is for that guy or gal on the go that wants to capture the memories of their actions moments. Once you have the GoPro in your hands you will be able to think of all types of uses for it. Going sky diving for the first time? Strap one of these onto your chest and push record as you jump out the plane. This is an excellent tool for you travelers out there. Maybe not to be used everyday, but small enough to throw in your backpack for when you need it. Check out the next video we took in Thailand as we visited The Floating Market in Damneon Sad
Trip to the Thailand Floating In Market Damneon Sad
The GoPro is a very well made. Before they came out there was no way to catch those actions shots out of as well as in the water. It is said that the inventors invented it to be able to strap it onto their surfboards. They would place it at the very front and point it up and back showing them ride the wild waves. And it does a great job of catching the action for both the adventurer and world traveler. I keep my regular camera n my pocket and my GoPro in my back pack.
You can divide up the use of the GoPro into two categories. One is for underwater shots were you can’t really hear anything. And of course the dry shots where you might want to hear what is goin on. The GoPro comes with two back covers to the water proof case. The first one seals the camera tight to keep the water out. It somewhat muffles the sound so it is not real clear. They also have another back cover to the case that lets in air and sound. Just be sure to have the right cover on!
Cons of the GoPro
This camera is made for action shots and quick shots. It is not that camera that you try to center your subject perfectly in the frame. There is no view finder on the GoPro! You simply point it and shoot! Most of the time, you will have it mounted someway and you don’t worry about pointing it in any direction except where you are going! So, that is the major con of the GoPro. You can’t really see what you are recording.
I am happy to say that you can download a free app on your smartphone for the GoPro. You can actually use blue tooth to connect the GoPro to the Smart Phone. I plan to do this when we go to Pamplona for the running of the bulls in a few weeks. Now, when I say “Running with the Bulls”, I mean we will be up on a balcony safely watching those brave young (and not so young) men and women to the actual running with them.
I plan on taking a mount and an extendable stick and point it to the street where the bulls and runners will be going by. I will use the Smartphone to “frame” the picture so I can get an excellent shot. They say that there will less than five minutes of the actual action. I want it perfectly framed as this will be a once in a lifetime experience.
The Good news is the GoPro Hero4 and later models have a viewfinder
Therefore, I am going to recommend that you purchase the GoPro Hero4 or the GoProHero5. It is harder and harder to find any GoPro Heros3s anymore as the new models have been out a few years. You might as well get the most up to date model. I think you will be much happier.
Here is a link to Amazon for the camera I recommend
Like I said, it has a rear viewfinder and a lot more bells and whistles than
The GoPro3. Amazon also carrys the GoPro5’s. Perhaps That might be the one for you.
Check them all out and you decide how much you want to spend and how much of a
Camcorder you want.
